The preparation procedure combines two well-known physical immobilisation procedures, viz. adsorption and encapsulation techniques, applied sequentially which, in turn, produce a combined optical sensing layer. The sensitive polymeric encapsulated membrane (PEM) contains the polymeric resin, which can adsorb a large amount of indicator dye, encapsulated within porous polymeric structure.
