Prof. Bambang Kuswandi is currently group leader of Chemo and Biosensors Group, and Professor in Analytical Chemistry (2009) at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Jember. He was formerly Head of School of Pharmacy (2003-2009) and Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy (2009-2013), University of Jember, Indonesia .
Prof. Bambang Kuswandi received his PhD in Instrumentation and Analytical Science from University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), Manchester, UK in 1999 under supervisor Prof. Dr. R. Narayanaswamy. He also did his MSc degree (1996) in the same department, at UMIST, UK and undergraduate in Chemical Education (1993) IKIP Malang (now UM, State University of Malang), Indonesia.
He got H-index 17 and 1095 citations (Google Scholar) for his over 60 papers published in refereed journals. His current research interests are development of chemical sensor & biosensor for applications in environmental, food, pharmacy, clinical & health monitoring. Optical & electrochemical sensors. Molecular recognition, host-guest chemistry, ligand design & synthesis. The use of polymers & other novel/smart materials as solid support, reagent & indicator in sensors development. Lab on a-chip & microfluidics devices. Development of autonomous, wireless sensing devices & wearable sensing system, as well as halal science & technology.
Prof. Bambang Kuswandi was a Visiting Research Scientist at Department of Chemistry, Hacettepe, Ankara Turkey (1997), Department of Instrumentation and Analytical Science, UMIST, UK (2000), Department of Chemistry, University of Indonesia (2001); Department of Chemistry, University of Florence, Italy (2004); Laboratory of Supramolecular Chemistry and Technology, MESA+ Research Institute for Nanotechnology, University of Twente, the Netherlands (2006-2007) and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, USA (2008-2009). He was also a Visiting Professor at School of Chemical Sciences & Food Technology, Faculty of Science & Technology, UKM Malaysia (2011-2012). Currently, and at IChemTech, Faculty of Science & Technology & Fellow at IHRAM (Institute of Halal Research & Management), Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
